When I went through my miscarriage in December of 2021, it was the saddest stage of my life. No one knows your body better than yourself. I was having issues before the loss, I was having issues three weeks after the loss, and when I typed all of the issues in on Google, it was all flags of “contact your doctor immediately”, but my doctor kept referring me to go to the ER, a place that doesn’t specialize in that field and also has a $1,000 entrance fee with insurance. After trusting my gut and going to Miami to seek out better care, it resulted in surgery from what my Key West doctor “didn’t see”.
I was lucky to have a husband that could take me to my Miami appointments, stay with our daughter during them, and we both had jobs that were supportive and understanding. Not all women have that support, the financial means, or the transportation to go to mainland which is where I wanted to be able to help, as I know how sad and alone one can feel when going through that experience.
The idea behind this candle is that 30% of profits will go to Little Louie’s Purpose, a foundation I wanted to start to help other women that need to receive better health care outside of the Florida Keys during their pregnancy or miscarriages.
This 8.5oz candle is filled with solid notes of honeysuckle and rose, which are also the flowers hand painted on the clear vessel in resemblance of my abstract honeysuckle and rose tattoo as those would've been my son, Louie's, birth flowers.
